Work start on the Walls

P1010248 Although we don’t actually start building at Chelsea until the 5th of May, there is plenty of work going on behind the scenes. The walls surrounding Tom’s garden will be constructed of Kington stone in bands of differing thicknesses. We don’t have time to sort this out at the Show so the team building it have been sorting through truck loads of the stone and sorting them according to thickness. In good English fashion, all the measurements are imperial rather than metric! The wall is being built by Roger Walker and his team. Normally he would want about three weeks to build it but he only has about 5 days so they will be working long hours when it comes to Chelsea. Next week the york stone arrives so Graham and his team will start the long process of sorting that out according to Tom’s drawings. The more that can be done now means the less pressure we are under at the Show.
